Thank you for a wonderful year!
Please check out all the fun we had and what we have accomplished over the last decade with our 2025 Year in Review video!
2025 Year in Review
Let’s start with a throwback of where we began,
We’re reflecting on our 10 year span.
A dream and a vision of “If you build it they will come,”
The lodge is the place where everything started from.
It’s a home away from home for so many,
An accessible space for friends and family, a plenty.
A place where magical moments build community,
A place of belonging, understanding, and unity.
With a home base built, we jumped on the programming train,
Starting with a partnership with SailMaine.
Bruce’s lifelong passion paired with a wonderful organization,
Horizons Sailing recognized in 2024 as one of the best in the nation.
Four months of the year sailors enjoy cruising around Casco Bay,
And new opportunities like Portland Schooner Co. have come our way.
We also offer Amped Sailing with Captain Ruy,
Many ways to get out on the water, for all to enjoy.
Another long standing program is Horizons Climbing, indoors and out.
A place where everyone can work toward accomplishing their own route.
Support from wonderful gym partners, guides, and volunteers,
A strong and caring community has been cultivated over the years.
Next came Horizons Ski Program, at Sugarloaf to start,
And now we’ve grown to six mountain partners and our race team, H.A.R.T.
After a lesson a parent shared “Our son was absolutely beaming!”
These are the moments that fulfill what we’ve been dreaming.
In the midst of growing programs and finding ways to do more,
We added a second location in Brunswick and in 2021 opened its door.
It’s a campus with trails, program space, offices, and an event center,
A place where strangers become friends right as they enter.
We continue to grow our programs to increase people’s wellbeing,
Opportunities for belonging at summer camp, golf, music, and waterskiing.
Programs for all ages and all abilities are welcome here,
Thanks to collaborative partnerships that we hold so dear.
We’re not stopping there with a few new programs added that we host,
The Social Circle, Parents’ Night Out, Sibshops, and a paddle trip to the coast.
Creating spaces for belonging and giving respite and care,
We aim to be a resource that individuals, families, and groups can share.
Speaking of groups, we’ve grown to include many,
Working with Schools, adult day programs, and others a plenty.
Joining on our campuses for days filled with fun,
Including special Mascoma Bank Nature Series events that we run.
Caregivers, Veterans, people with spinal cord injuries too,
Get together for camps and retreats, annual events that we do.
“Immersive, full of love, laughter, and incredible people,” expresses one,
Lasting friendships are what’s left when they’re done.
Last but certainly not least is the Aphasia Center of Maine,
This incredible journey, starting with the brain.
This group of folks is so special and dear to our heart,
It’s how Bruce and Annemarie got their initial start.
Folks log on every Monday through Aphasia Connections,
Helping one another navigate life’s many unanticipated directions.
A Book Club and in-person retreats are other ways they meet,
Honoring Andre along the way, it’s what makes us complete.
What best celebrates and honors the work that’s been done,
Is the ‘Hearts of Gold’ award that Bruce and Annemarie won.
This wouldn’t be possible without them and their dedication,
Making an impact here in Maine and to others across the nation.
Sharing these programs and events with you all is the ultimate reward,
Forever a lasting impact and in our memories they’re stored.
Moments of trying new things and accomplishing unthinkable goals,
Best described as the moments that Hug our Souls.
A decade of belonging, we feel grateful and proud,
Creating spaces and places where people can be themselves out loud.
A strong, supportive, positive community is what keeps us sound,
“It takes every kind of people to make the world go ‘round.”
Thank you for 10 years of mission moments and impact near and far,
What’s on our Horizon is continuing to raise the bar.
Keep learning, keep growing, keep sharing smiles too,
The power of togetherness is magical, bitty bitty boo.
