P/T Back-up Driver (Central Maine)

The Iris Network, a community-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission of helping people who are visually impaired or blind to attain independence and community integration, seeks a part-time back-up Driver-Reader to occasionally provide transportation for itinerant staff person who is visually impaired.  There are no fixed number of hours for this position, but up to a max of 30 hours / week.  The driver is needed to drive primarily in Central Maine. 

This position is ideal for someone looking for a little extra cash and who has a flexible schedule. 

The driver-reader shall be an experienced driver with a good driving record, maintain a safe and reliable vehicle.  The driver-reader shall show proof that s/he carries adequate automobile insurance according to the agency’s policy.  The driver-reader shall exhibit dependability, sound judgment, and satisfactory interpersonal skills and shall dress appropriately for the job.  

Education requirements:  The driver-reader shall have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. 

Benefits:  No benefits.  However, mileage is reimbursed at a rate of $0.44 per mile.
