Aira app helps the visually-impaired navigate the system

May 7, 2019

The Iris Network campus in Portland is a location that provides free access to Aira for clients and students attending the Rehabilitation Center (preparing people who are blind or visually impaired for employment and independent living.) Aira connects people who are blind or low vision to a trained professional agent who is dedicated to further enhancing their everyday experience - assistance at the touch of a button.

Elise Tabor, Access Technology Specialist gave a live demonstration this month to our Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (CVRT) along with an agent who did an outstanding job of answering all of their questions including how to keep safety/privacy in the forefront of their interactions. The CVRT's were impressed and will be demonstrating its use to their clients around the State of Maine.
