Old time Radio Reading Services have gone high tech!

December 7, 2018

Maine Radio

Many of the Radio Reading Services for the blind and visually impaired are now streaming their services on the internet. Services like the Talking Information Center or TIC Network https://ticnetwork.org/ These services have readers reading local newspapers, magazines, and books at scheduled times during the day. It used to be that you needed a special receiver or had to find the "secondary audio" on your TV to tune these in, and you could only get the one closest to you. Now, you can listen to broadcasts from all over the country on a tablet or smartphone connected to the internet. Many are available using the Amazon Echo or other SMART speaker!
