Demystifying the Myths of Employment for Job-Seekers with a Vision Impairment

May 1, 2018

Unless you have a friend or family member with a vision impairment, you may have some limited ideas about what an employee or job-seeker can do in an employment situation. If you are someone with a recent vision loss, you may have no idea of the technology, adaptive techniques, and training available to you through Maine’s Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DBVI).  Maine employers may not know that employees with disabilities often greatly out-perform their co-workers in reliability, fewer sick days, longer tenure, and may have support through state vocational rehabilitation services.

Employers and job-seekers can learn more by calling Maine’s Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DBVI) at 977-594-5627 and check out the Job Insights podcasts from BlindAbilities.com.
