Three Mainers Graduate from The Iris Network Rehabilitation Center

January 3, 2017

On December 23, The Iris Network hosted a graduation ceremony for three students from Maine, Mariah Brewer, Courtney Straffin, and Andrew Durgan, all of whom had lost their vision.

The graduates successfully completed an intense, transformational 12-week program at The Iris Network Rehabilitation Center which provides the tools, technology, and training to prepare people who are blind or visually impaired to excel in a competitive job market. The graduates were supported by family, staff at The Iris Network, Maine’s Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the State Rehabilitation Counsel, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors.

Amber Mooney, program coordinator for The Rehabilitation Center said, “It is powerfully moving when a client starts to choke up at their graduation, as they become so overwhelmed with how much they have accomplished, how far they have  come from where they have started, and how confident they are for their future; there is a strength and sense of pride that shines in those tears.”

Congratulations to all our graduates!
