Community Inclusion through TEchnology (CITE)

Maine CITE helps Mainers of any age and ability learn about and explore assistive technology (AT) and tools to increase independence.

Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to learn more about autism and support people on the autism spectrum and their families. Autism can affect how a person communicates, learns, and experiences the world. Each person with autism is different, with their own strengths and needs. By increasing awareness, we can help create more inclusive communities where everyone feels valued.

Compression Bed Sheet for Twin Bed – For those who find compression soothing and calming, this light, breathable, elastic sheet allows for freedom of movement with a binding feeling.

Tote Around Turtle – This 5 pound, Lycra turtle is stuffed with steel and plastic pellets. Place in a child’s lap during table-top activities to promote concentration and reduce fidgeting, rocking and standing up. Hypoallergenic, age 4 and up.

Classic Liquid Floor Tiles (6 pack) – These sturdy, rigid, non-slip tiles are filled with non-toxic colorful liquid ooze that respond to pressure when pressed or stepped on. Use them for a sensory break or to create movement games. Each tile is 12″ x 12″ and 0.3″ thick.
