What’s on our Horizon…

As we welcome the change of seasons, we’re reflecting on how we spent the last bit of summer!

Our Open House was a wonderful way to welcome our community to AOEC. Thank you to everyone who came out to explore our space, try new activities, connect with friends, and learn more about what’s happening at AOEC. We’re especially grateful to the organizations, community partners, and individuals who provided activities and hosted tables throughout the day!

We have officially wrapped up our 2026 Horizons Sailing season, and what a season it was! A huge thank you to Portland Schooner Co., SailMaine, and Captain Ruy for helping create so many memorable days on the water. We’re grateful to our incredible volunteers who shared their time and talents, and to every participant who came aboard and made the season so much fun. These partnerships make it possible for more people to experience the freedom, connection, and joy of being out on the water!

We couldn’t let the season pass without reflecting on the two days we spent sea kayaking in Stonington with Osprey Echo Sea Kayaking! From getting out on the water to exploring Little Camp Island, these experiences are a reminder of what adaptive recreation is all about: trying something new, building confidence, connecting with others, and creating memories outdoors. Check out our trip recap here!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and participated this summer. AOEC programs are possible because of this incredible community, and we’re looking forward to all that is on our Horizon!
