This section provides information about local and regional transportation programs, listed alphabetically, that may be available to people who are visually impaired.  Please note: these are very diverse programs, not all individuals may qualify and not all areas of the state are listed. You will need to contact one of the listed resources to determine whether or not their programs will meet your needs in your locality.

●     Bath Shuttle Bus Operated by the City of Bath, provides public, fixed       
route, bus service in the City of Bath. City Bus operates Monday through  Friday. Phone (207) 443-8363
 
●     Community Concepts Inc. provides transportation services through a
       community-based volunteer driver network; as well as, agency van
       service in the cities of Lewiston-Auburn and Rumford. CCI also provides
       contractual transportation services, and a family and friends’ reimbursement
       program under the guidelines of Maine Care.

●     FISH program (Friends In Service Helping) (Serves parts of York County)  
       Volunteer program used for medical appointments as well as
       social activities such as a beauty/barber shop appointment.

●     Freeport Transit, Inc. A private, for-profit corporation that provides public
       transportation services in Cumberland County. Freeport Transit provides 
       door-to-door services utilizing agency vans for Maine Care eligible  
       appointments. Freeport Transit operates Monday through Friday.

●     Independent Transportation Network (ITN) (Greater Portland area)
       Money is removed on a monthly basis from a personal account to pay for the    
       drivers. Covers a fifteen mile radius of Portland.  Phone (207) 854-0505.

●     Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP)
       KV Van Service provides demand response service through the use of 
       agency vans. KVCAP’s Friend and Family program will reimburse mileage to
       a family member or a friend using their personal car for Maine Care eligible

●     Lewiston- Auburn regional transportation operates Mondays through

●     Portland Metro - city bus provides transportation throughout the city of 
       Portland as well as service to South Portland, Falmouth and Westbrook.

●     Regional Transportation Program (RTP) (Cumberland County)
       A private, non-profit corporation that provides public transportation services
       in Cumberland County. RTP provides door-to-door service utilizing agency  
       buses and vans, volunteer drivers, and the family and friends’
       reimbursement program for Maine Care eligible appointments. RTP operates
       a commuter service from Portland and Westbrook to BIW in Bath. RTP also
       provides the ADA complementary para-transit service for METRO and South   
       Portland  Bus Service.

●     Shuttle Bus (Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach)
For 25 years, the ShuttleBus has served Southern Maine residents with a convenient and affordable public transportation network. We offer ShuttleBus Tri-Town Service within Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach.     South Portland Bus Service
       Owned and operated by the City of South Portland, provides public
       fixed-route transit service in South Portland, the Maine Mall area and   
       downtown Portland. South Portland Bus Service operates Monday through

●     The Lynx (Penobscot and Piscataquis counties)
       The Lynx provides transportation services for residents of Penobscot and
       Piscataquis Counties. All transportation is by appointment. We need to hear
       from you two full business days prior to your appointment.

●     West's Coastal Connections (Washington County)

●     York County Community Action:
       The Transportation Program’s primary purpose is to promote self-sufficiency
       by providing York County residents with a means to get to work and/or
       services and resources which otherwise would not be accessible. Services
       are provided throughout York County, with reduced rates or free service
       available to eligible individuals.
