Community Connections Program

The Community Connections Project has been designed to provide information about community opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired. These opportunities may be social, recreational or related to advocacy. Community Connections has developed a network of organizations that provide such opportunities.

The Project Coordinator is working to help coordinate, organize, publicize and strengthen new and pre-existing opportunities. Many programs happen throughout the year in Maine. The Community Connections Project is a way to spread the word. We work to share information with a variety of organizations including the Division for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Catholic Charities of Maine, ACB of Maine, NFB of Maine, the New England Blind Athletes Association, the Maine Chapter of the National Association of Parents of Children with Blindness or Visual Impairment, Maine Handicapped Skiing, Alpha One and many others.

Provided on this page is a monthly Community Connection Newsletter sharing social, recreational and advocacy opportunities throughout Maine. There are also links to Support Groups and Community Organizations that are collaborating through the Community Connections Project.

Get more involved in the community by creating a user account and participating in discussions on the forum and posting information about events near you!
