Dear Friends,

I trust you have enjoyed a wonderful summer.  I look forward to meeting you at the earliest opportunity.

I am honored and feel privileged to have been selected to come to Maine to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Iris Network.  Founded in 1905, the organization has created a long history of improving the quality of  life for people who are visually impaired and blind  by providing individualized programs of training,      education and support. Our services have evolved over the years.  What we do today has been built over a century of experience by the talent of many people who have served the organization as staff or volunteers.

The Iris Network offers four core program services:  Vision Rehabilitation Services, Low Vision Services,  Maine AIRS, and the assisted living services provided at the Iris Park Apartments, the new  housing facility that is now almost completed on  the Iris Network campus in 2006.  Although the  bulk of our efforts fall under one or more of these four programs, our dedicated staff is engaged in    diverse programmatic activities that support people at home, at work, and in many other aspects of their lives. For example, our support groups provide an ideal format for people coping with vision loss to share and discuss their experiences and help each other to master challenges.

Looking to the future, we are in the process of completing our strategic plan, which will help us further develop our programs in a way that makes maximum use of today’s knowledge, best practices, and emerging technologies.  During this time of   transition, I ask for your support and understanding. I am focused on improving the quality of what we  do, developing new services, and working toward fully achieving the mandate of the Iris Network.

Thank you for all you do to improve the lives of others.
